COVID-19 Updates

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. However, infection control has become more important because the dental drill produces an aerosol from the saliva in the mouth which can spread the COVID-19 virus. The aerosol can remain in the air for an extended period of time.  This makes dental treatment challenging, because most procedures require production of the aerosol.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We have installed HEPA/UVC air purifiers as well as magnetic doors in each of the operatories. We also installed UVC sterilization lights in the HVAC system. Unfortunately we cannot see as many patients in a day as we used to.

You will see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff.

  • Please DO NOT come to your appointment if you are ill! Call and or email us to let us know ASAP!

  • We will try to put you directly into a treatment room.

  • We provide a pre-treatment rinse before we begin. (a mouthwash that reduces bacteria and viruses in the mouth)

  • We schedule greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

  • Please depart the office promptly when treatment is complete.

  • Please minimize socializing in the office.  We are happy to chat on the phone or respond to emails.
